Parasites and Biliary stones

Helminthic invasion of biliary tracts is a prominent medical and surgical problem especially in tropical and subtropical areas where these parasites are endemic.Parasites in the biliary tree causes a variety of manifestations referred to as the Oriental cholangiohepatitis syndrome. Features of this syndrome include helminthiasis, biliary stones formation, choledochal obstruction and recurrent cholangitis.
